our engagement story

Mmm our favorite story to tell :)
Preface: Aaron and I had both been in Costa Rica studying abroad since January. I was living in San Jose and Aaron was living in Heredia about 15 minutes outside of San Jose. We were so lucky to be able to see each other and experience studying abroad together. Aaron's program was over in May and I didn't leave until the end of July. However to my surprise Aaron still wasn't ready to say goodbye to Costa Rica after he left. Aaron planned on coming back as a surprise to propose to me!

My friend Jordan was in on this master plan, and helped Aaron arrange everything.  Jordan had made up plans for the weekend to make sure I wouldn't try to go out of town.  And then he also asked me to go to a concert with him on friday morning. I was not very excited about this part. For one thing it was in the morning and I am not a morning person, and two I didn't want to go to a choir concert in spanish. ha. But I agreed reluctantly to go. So I had been talking to Aaron all week over skype and he did not lead me to think anything, he kept telling me how much he had to work and how much he wished I would come home ;)

Friday morning around 10:00 I needed to be in el parque de Sabanilla, the bus stop, to go to the concert with Jordan.  So I got up and got dressed and walked down the hill. Passed by all the taxi's asking me, "taxi? taxi lady?" NO GRACIAS. Seriously everyday this happened.  I saw Jordan dressed and ready to go to the theatre, but he was taking pictures of me. Weird. So I get all the way up to him and he is still taking pictures of me. And he finally says " look over there"- pointing toward the center of the park- I look over and there was Aaron James glowing in the sunlight dressed in his tie and everything. I cannot do justice to my emotions with words. My heart floated out of my chest for a second or two and then spun around a couple of times, while my mind was just confused. I walked up to him while the costa ricans were thinking, "what is this gringo standing in the park for?" and he kneeled down and asked me to marry him! Of course I said yes! After that we got to go the beach for the weekend before he went back to the USA. Here are the pictures that Jordan took!

Wheee! We're engaged!
